Last week, during her visit, my Mom gave me a coiled basket that she had made.
I thought to myself, 'this would make an awesome bead cap if miniaturized and flipped upside down'.
I tried to copy my Mom's basket but I eventually got lost and had to improvise the finish of the bead cap.
It's really just a tiny basket.
I like how the cap's openness lets the stone peek out. It's really pretty.

ReplyDeleteI truly admire the patience you have to work in the miniature! Looks lovely Mary! Meanwhile I am trying to make another woven vessel/bottle, but with a pointy tip, woven in the same way I had done the bottle...but so far it is looking like a disaster. lol! I think I'll try and make it a trinket box instead, because after half way through the shape of a bottle is just not happening. Now I'll go look for your trinket box tut and make my very first hinge! Say a prayer for me that I don't waste alllll that fine silver and am actually successful in making the hinge etc the way you make them. Kinda scared right now...haven't ever done that, and trying it for the 1st time in fine silver.

ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful. And the leather cord is a nice finishing touch -- it doesn't overwhelm the pendant and lets it take center stage. Which it should. :)
Even if you did get lost, I think your little bead cap, upside down basket looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMary, Your Mom's basket is outstanding. Her coiling is beautifully done and I love all of the twists and turns it takes along with changing colors. Very interesting. Your bead cap is equally outstanding. While you had to improvise, it works, allowing the bead color to show through. Your wire work is incredible. Bead caps really are minature vessels.
