Ok this is last ring for a while
I really like the gold fill band and weave pattern. Otherwise it seems just a bit boring to me. It's missing some kind of pop.
Anybody have ideas to make it pop? All I can think of is to oxidize the bright silver to black and see if that gives me some wow factor.

You're on a roll! I think oxidizing the silver is a very worthy experiment...because any piece I see with black silver and gold looks quite dramatic. Also, the spirals on a similar ring (2 rings down on your blog) really made the ring stand out!).
ReplyDeleteAdd one of your leafy/viney things down the front. I love the stone. You're doing lovely things, Ms. Angsty!

I agree with the oxidizing, but I oxidize everything!! How about some small lapis beads on the side or across the top at an angle. You inspire me!!
ReplyDeleteDeborah! I played with the ring during my lunch hour and decided exactly the same thing. A row of small beads at an angle across the top and the bottom. Your idea will really suit this ring and finish it well:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment!
Hey! I finally made the hinged box! It is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from perfect. In fact if you were the maker, you would have trashed it. But for me it is a success, simply because it works! Yayyyy!!! This poor box which was supposed to be a bottle, and then turned into some kind of a box is quite a mess, with me forgetting how I had woven that first bottle, then remembering again when I started the lid...lol. It is now tumbling...will post pictures tomorrow. Thank you for your WONDERFUL tutorial! Because of the tut I could make the hinge and the clasp. :-)))
ReplyDeleteMary, sigh...what can I say, you are always surprising me with your designs. As always, something beautiful and unique.

Mary, can't wait to see it with the beads. I thought I would try a ring... I think I have forgotten how to weave, been doing a lot of enameling and my fingers feel 'fat'... boy how quick we can forget. Now back to it!!
