Reflection

  Dear Friends,

I need a change. I'm ready for a new life adventure. The original description of this blog  "The journey of one Angsty Artist, struggling to find her identity, her name and her own style"; no longer rings true for me.

I'm questioning what more I have to say or give to the blogging community. I'm wondering what sort of new adventure I can get excited about going forward.

The choices I've made for the last 3 years have been good for me. But, those same choices are not what is best for me going forward another year or 3.

I'm going to take a big step back and allow some room for reflection in my life and remember what it was like to live a blogless life:)

All of you readers have meant so much to me. Your encouragement and energy and excitement for my work has been an enormous force in getting me this far. I will miss you all terribly. Even you lurkers who faithfully read but don't comment are precious to me and have helped make this blog exciting.

I'm not going to post again until mid June which is the 3 year anniversary of this blog. At that time I will either say goodbye or I will have found a fresh blogging voice.

This doesn't mean I am quitting wire. If I post my work online it will be on my Facebook or my Flickr. Maybe I will work on my etsy shop. You can still find me one of those places.

It's tempting to be sad about the loss of something that has become a regular part of my life and for some of you and my family it is also a regular part of your lives. My family can call me instead.

For the rest of you, be brave and make something wonderful! Look inside yourselves and pull out what you find, draw it in wire. Express yourselves wildly, crazily, and beautifully. You don't have to be self confident, you don't have to be fearless, just be brave!!

  1. Mary Dear, I have tears in my eyes as I read this. Your blog has become so important to me along with all of the beauties, ideas and inspiration you have shared. You have shared pieces of yourself and I thank you. Change can bring about great things, I hope this change does so for you. I respect your decision. May life continue to bring you the joys of creation and I will work on being brave!

  2. Mary, I've never followed a blog before till I came upon yours...and that was only a month or two ago. So I'm so sorry to hear this news. I do hope your wire work continues and, selfishly, that you begin to post many more tutorials!!!!
Best of luck to you and I hope you'll be back after a little re-energizing break. Jane

  3. Christine, thank you! I'm sad too, because I make this decision while I still care about the blog and will miss it. I do hope that my decision will blossom into a wonderful new flower; but only time will tell.

Jane, Thank you for your comment! I'm going to work hard to be selfish and I hope my selfish wishes will merge well with your selfish wishes! Teaching is still an option for me:)

  4. I feel so sad to read this. You know that your blog, you, your work, you're all inspiring for me. Makes me feel happy each time I see something new posted by you on your blog.

But I understand you must really need the break if you are saying this. June...my birthday month...and I pray that you will find a new inspiration for jewelry direction and blog direction by then. I hope it will not be a goodbye.

Please do post your jewelry regularly on your FB page. Even if you don't have anything to blog about, I hope I can just hop over to your page and see every new piece you make.

I'll be happy if you would come to my blog and give me your insights on what I make...if you have the time. I will really appreciate it.

I don't know what else to say...a bit of a shock...lol. Stay in touch Mary...email, FB, my blog, whichever way you wish to.

    Sending you hugs...

  5. Mary, I'm sad to read this, but I also understand -- people grow and change, and when it's time to move on, it's time.

But! I hope to keep in touch with you through Flickr. Your work is fantastic, and I'd miss the inspiration.

    *Hugs.*

  7. I read this and like the others, tears come along with understanding. We all have to look at ourselves now and again and ask ourselves if we feel there is more (?) or have we accomplished all we wanted, learned all we could or are we now drawn down a different road, whether out of curiosity or simple just to see what is there and try it.

Your blog is the only one I have read, enjoyed, awed over and learned from. You need to see what is in your future and I am wishing you all the best for having the bravery to do so.

  9. My very dear Ms. Angsty, I think you are brave and wonderful and wise to know when you need to take a break and think about things. Better to reflect on what works best for 'now' than to labor on with something out of habit and allowing something that has been so good in your life to become a burden. You know I'll be praying for you as you transition into your new 'now'. Much love, Debi

  12. Oh Mary, you will be missed in the blogging community. I totally understand your need for reflecting. While moving forward and trying to "find" ourselves, our wants and needs change, it's only natural.
I admire you as an artist, and hope that you will continue to post your work on Flickr. Best to you!
