I'm not sure if any blog readers are interested in this; maybe it's just me.
However there is an exhibition of Mary Lee Hu's work at the Bellevue Arts Museum in Washington.
You can see 8 pieces from the exhibition online here:
http://www.bellevuearts.org/exhibitions/current/mary_lee_hu/index.html
But here is the important part: They are producing a catalogue of the exhibition that is due out in March or April. It is available for pre-order from the museum here:

It is very difficult to get a quality look at Marys work online. All the online images are very small and don't allow close examination. I've excitedly placed my preorder for the catalogue already.
The way it works is, you call them and give them your name and phone number or email adress and they will inform you when the catalogue is out and contact you. At that time you can purchase it, or they will sell it to someone else.

love her work, one of my favorite artists
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I wish I could go see that exhibit! She's one of my absolute favorite wire artists.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's time for me to start saving up for a private plane! ;)
My goodness Sarah, I'm not even sure if you are joking or not:))
ReplyDeleteI'll just say it would be cheaper to get the catalogue;)
Mary, Thanks for the link. She is such an amazing artist. I will put an order in for the catalogue! It would be incredible to see this exhibit in person but the catalogue will be the next best thing!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about her...so thanks for the post. I really loved that first piece...its soooo pretty. Is that twinning?
ReplyDeleteOh...btw...the "Fira Marine" up there is me, Swati. Fira Marine is my 14 year old's writing blog. And I didn't know she had logged into her blogger on my computer. Seeing it only now.
ReplyDeleteOh Swata, I forgot to answer you:) yes most of Mary Hu's work is double twining, she is known for it and I think she is the first to double twined with wire. She is also a goldsmith so her wire work is finished beautifully.
ReplyDeleteShe has been working wire and weaving with it since the 60's!!
